Career Fair takes place on April 29

OPEN FOR DLC STUDENTS IN GRADES 10 / 11 / 12

Join students from around the Sun West School Division on Friday, April 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. for our virtual Career Fair. Sessions will include presentations from the U of S, U of R, Sask Polytechnic, the DLC, and more!

All students who register will participate in the opening ceremonies and keynote presentation with Kayden Johnson, who is an aspiring Olympic athlete.

The Career Fair will end with closing keynote presenter, Tornado Hunter Ricky Forbes. Ricky has a unique passion which he has turned into an income. He will share his life/career adventures with students.

Keynote
Kayden Johnson

Our opening keynote presenter is Kayden Johnson, an aspiring Olympic athlete who grew up in Kindersley, SK. With the right mindset, embracing moments that build resilience and nurturing the fire within you can open a world of possibilities that are yours to discover, pursue, and own.

The Saskatchewan Universities and Technical Institute Liaison (SUTIL) is a united team of post-secondary institutes who support high school students in realizing their potential and plan for their path after graduation. Each scheduled timeslot offers a choice of sessions for students.

A panel of recent Sun West Graduates will share experiences and advice on topics such what do they like about their schooling/jobs, how did they manage with their finances, what school experiences have played a role in their choices to date, how covid has impacted their plans, etc.

Gap Year

Undecided about what you want to do after high school? Interested in a Gap Year? A representative from the Canadian Gap Year Association will share ideas to help students plan for a purposeful gap year journey.

Funding Your Education

This session will help provide students with tips for planning for scholarships and provide additional ideas for financing your education.

Sun West DLC

Join this session to learn more about unique electives and dual credits offered through our Distance Learning Centre and how course selections can support your Graduation and Post/Graduation planning and decision making.

How Can YouTube Help You With Career Decision Making?

Join this session for an overview of how to use Career Spotlights and other resources to support your life/career investigations.

Job Search 101

This session is designed to help young people on their job search, providing tips to ensure they are set up for success. This will include interview, resume tips, etc.

21st Century Skills

These sessions are unique to each school and have a maximum enrolment. Please discuss with your Career Development Teacher

Closing Keynote
Ricky Forbes

Tornado Hunter Ricky Forbes as a unique passion which he has turned into an income. He will share his life/career adventures with students. A student-led closing will follow.
